The theme for the event is "Maximizing Ultimate Recovery and Minimizing Formation
Damage Through Underbalanced Operations."These
operations strive to maintain an underbalanced state from the drilling phase through the
productive life of the well. Multiple technical and operational disciplines, working
together, are crucial to achieve this goal. Therefore, the conference welcomes and
encourages abstracts and active participation from the subsurface disciplines such as
geology, geophysics, and reservoir engineering. Underbalanced wells are usually drilled
with the reservoir in mind, so the contribution by the subsurface community is essential!
The technical and plenary sessions will be structured around the
theme. It is expected that papers will include a cross-section of case histories,
candidate selection, incremental increased reserve recovery, higher productivity, the
reservoir context of successful applications, and innovative underbalanced drilling and
completion techniques.
The mission of the conference is to convene a forum to explore
underbalanced technology, emphasizing reserve additions, enhancement of well productivity,
reduction of formation damage, and advances in drilling, logging, and completion
techniques and practices.
Abstracts are due on 7 October 2002! The preferred method for
submitting an abstract is electronically through the SPE Web site at www.spe.org
The Program Committee will select the papers in mid-October and
the authors will be notified shortly thereafter. |
